Habitat area



The colonized area of Mars is well protected from asteroids, and the lack of oxygen is nonexistent in it. If you decide to go outside your shelter, be prepared for cold temperatures, because Mars can get as cold as -153° C, and there are usually major wind storms.

• Asteroid Protection and Oxygen

  

  On Mars, the atmosphere is not nearly as strong as it is on Earth. Asteroids could easily fall on the planet. The atmosphere is made mostly of carbon dioxide, argon, and nitrogen, and hardly any oxygen is on the planet. To solve both of these problems, a man-made atmosphere and plants in soil without iron oxide would be used to sustain the oxygen levels in the colonized space. A plasma slicer grid dome above the atmosphere will turn any asteroids that would fall on the habitat into powder. The grid would be high above the ground, and humans could deactivate it if repairs were needed, so no humans would be sliced by the grid.

• Myths about Mars

  • Although many graphic novels, movies, and books depict aliens on Mars, there is no evidence that supports that they currently live there. However, there may be signs of ancient life from when there was water on Mars.

  • Despite what may be said about Martian air, though it is unbreathable, it will not turn you into a Martian.

Housing

There are some things you may want to know about your living area, so I thought I should list some here.

• Temperature Controls

  As we all know, even the best houses can become uncomfortable because of the temperature. To keep visitors from freezing in the -153° weather, we will incorporate adjustable temperature settings for your shelter, so you can always feel the right temperature.

• Wind Protection

  On Mars, powerful wind storms are common. The homes will be dome shaped, one of the most aerodynamic shapes, so the wind will go over and around the houses, instead of going under or pushing the house. If you decide to go outside your shelter, Be prepared for cold temperatures, because Mars can get as cold as -153° C, and there are usually major wind storms.

There will also be satellites connecting to Earth so you can have access to the internet and wifi.

Attractions

One day on Mars is 24.6 hours, which is longer than the 24 hour day on Earth. Since you would have more time, you might be able to have more fun as well!

On Mars, you are not as many years old as you are on Earth. One year on Mars is 687 Earth Days, so you would be almost half the age on Mars as you were on Earth!

Although Mars does not have a global magnetosphere today, Mars does have some highly magnetized areas in its southern hemisphere. On these, you can experience Maglev( Magnetically Levitating) hoverboards.(click here for explanation)

Do you enjoy looking at the Moon? On Mars, there are two moons to gaze upon, called Phobos and Deimos.

Supplies you may need.

Many supplies would probably have already been placed on Mars by colonizers before you got there, but here are some supplies you may need.

• Oxygen

  
  
  

  Oxygen will probably have already been placed on Mars by colinizers before you got there, but just in case you need oxygen tubes or pills, you may want to bring some extra oxygen just in case.

• Plants

  
  

  Plants help clean the air, and also refill it with oxygen. Plants will probably have already been placed on Mars by colonizers before you got there, to sustain the oxygen, but if too many people get into the colonized space, or the plants die, it would probably be a good idea to bring a few extra.

• Water

  

  In the USA, water always seems to be there when you need it. When washing hands, cooking, brushing teeth, there almost always seems to be enough water. However, if a water pipe bursts underground on Mars, the martian soil could get in and contaminate the water. It would be advisable to bring some water from home on your trip.

• Food

  
  
  

  Food is another necessity to survival. Colonizers will probably have already brought food to Mars by colonizers before you got there, but it is good to have emergency food, just in case.

• Sunscreen

  

  You may be wondering, "If it gets so cold on Mars, why do I need sunscreen?" The answer to that question is: You would need sunscreen because of the thin atmosphere. Sunscreen protects your skin from harmful solar radiation, and the thin atmosphere of Mars lets more in than that of Earth.

• Extra Clothes

  

  Clothes are a travel necessity. If some get ruined, it is advisable to have a spare.

• Solar Generators

  

  If the power goes out, you may need a generator to keep you household appliances working— click here to go to "Your stay'' page —which include air vents, temperature controls, lights, an other necessary appliances. In case of emergencies, there will be back-up generators connected to the plasma cutter grid, to make sure that even in blackouts, asteroids do not hit the humans.

• Heater

  

  If the power goes out, you may need a solar/battery powered heater to keep you from freezing.

• Warm Coat(s)

  

  In addition to the heaters, you may need warm coats to stay warm if the power goes out.

• Electronics

  

  If you want to talk with your friends, relatives, or just people without going to meet them, you can call or video chat on your device. You can also work, play, learn, and do many other things on some devices. Just make sure you have the charger handy!

• Sunglasses

  

  To protect your eyes from the sun, wear sunglasses when you want to.
